To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Vertigo Suffering Finally Relieved For 5 whole years, I had survived a 24/7 dizzy sensation that had been dismissed by doctors, by family members, even by own husband, as a stress-induced disorder. But everyone has stress; my stress “issue” was no different than the average American. I had expensive, out-of-pocket medical tests performed: Brain MRI, thyroid ultrasounds and xrays, Ear Specialists, tests with a Neurologist, an Opthamologist, and an Alternative Medicine Doctor. I spent thousands with no answer. The continuous rocking became almost unbearable, yet somehow I managed with work and a young family. I began to stop complaining about it because it seemed no one could understand or help. Vertigo doesn’t always show to other people. They can’t tell that we’re sick because we learn to mask it. Our brains work hard through our eyes and ears to correct the off-balance feeling. Over the last 3 years, it has been extremely surprising to find how many people in my own little city suffer from this condition, and most of them have not found satisfying answers. Through a network of friends, I learned of a doctor in Denver last year who specializes in Vertigo Within 10 minutes of interviewing me, she had diagnosed the problem, and I have been treated finally, with great relief. The diagnosis is Mal de Debarquement, or Rocking Boat Syndrome. It occurs for the most part to women in their forties. It apparently is connected to a Migraine Gene and happens most usually when a person has been on a cruise. For over a year, I have been on Peroxitine, an anti-depressant drug discovered accidentally to help people with these symptoms. I have gone down from 40 mg to 20 mg per day in the last 6 months. I find it is best to avoid coffee, aged milk products, such as buttermilk, cottage cheese, and yogurt, and to stay away from artificial sugars. I hope my story will help someone. God Bless! Comments
