Spinning like a spinning top.
by: Alma C.
on Mon, Aug 24 2009
I woke up last Thursday morning 8-13-09; I should say I was awaken @ 4am by what seem to be the room spinning. I have HTN and immediately thought my pressure was up. I took my medicine; didn’t help. I tried to lay down, I could not, I almost fell trying to use the toilet. I got myself together enough to go to work that only led to my co workers driving me to a urgent care center. The doctor examined me and suggested I go to the ER.
I arrive at the ER and when I was finally seen by the physician, his first response was that I had a mild heart attack After several tests which included, xray, ct scan, ultrasound and MRI which all came out normal, thank God. I was admitted to the hospital and a neurologist was called. He performed a simple procedure called Halle pak, and immediately told me I have BPPV….I’m taking therapy which has really helped me.
Dr. K. can’t tell me why this happen but it is a terrilbe thing to have. I home now and while I am sitting still I have no symptons, I tried to fix a sandwich and almost fell in the fridge. It is so easy to loose balance and I have to be careful not to fall. Today is a good day, it has been a week and a day since this started. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. Coping better everyday.
