Vertigo or what?

I am 78 years old and I do a reasonable amount of sports including swiming, golf, basketball, bike riding, hiking, and treadmill. My diet isn,t perfect but I eat a variety of foods with sweets maybe too much. A few weeks ago I got out of bed and things started spinning. However prior to that event I noticed fatigue from reading. After doctor and hospital visits and testing including ENT,CTSCN,O2,EKG so far normal. Now awaiting blood test results.

A few days ago the spinning reappeared especially upon awaking but as the day goes on for the most part the symptoms disapear However the may be very short episodes of lightheadedness. I checked with my family and yes there has been a history of this problem. The remedy was time and 2mg of Vallium. That seems to work and 30 minutes of arobic exercise most of the time doesn’t aggravate the spinning or fatigue. Reading about Vertigo is really not conclusive about symptoms, cause or treatment. Seems the inner ear is connected to or influnces by just about most common diseases and body functions. So, I just keep track what causes these symptoms and try to avoid the cause.

Head positions and fatigue seem to be the favorite causes. Also, I believe certian medications, perscription and OTC, may have influence, but that is real tricky to discover. May not make sense to vary current medications that you are taking. So, I say take the vallium, mezline and balance exercised prescribed by your doctor. Eat healthy foods and get good sleep. The vallium at bed time helps. Find a sleeping position that does not aggrivate the dizziness problem. Keep the faith and do the homework. The best of luck
