To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Vertigo from a 44yo Military Retiree I had my first bout with vertigo in 1998 while I was still in the Army. I was in motion to lie down and take a look under my brother-in-laws car when everthing spun. It lasted a few minutes and went away. It returned when I sat back up… once again for a few minutes then went away. The next time was Oct 2008 in a hotel when I woke me from sleep at 4am. This time was very bad with severe spinning, dizziness vomiting. It lasted for hours. I had to call in to my colleage to tell him about what happened and that would not come into work that day. The bad part was that I needed to make a 4 hour drive home the next day. After a few hours, the dizziness was mostly gone but my head felt “different” like it was under pressure. Particulary the sides of my head. I made the drive home the next day without incident although I was nervous all the way. I was looked at by some doctors who labeled me with positional vertigo and gave me some meclizine. I carry this stuff in my pocket wherever I go although I have had only needed to take it 3 times since the episode in Oct 08. Eventually, about 3 months later, I got to see a real neurologist but whataya know… no symptoms in the docs office… I was pissed. My eyes didnt bounce or anything during the positional tests. Tonight… 22 Feb 09. I am on a bussiness trip in the middle of the desert in southern Ca when an episode of Vertigo rears its ugly head. I was doing nothing more than standing with my head turned to the left talking. I turned my head back to front and wham… spinning room. I had a place to sit directly behind me, kept my head still, and it subsided. The “different” feeling in my head is still there though. Weather wise, some rain had just come and may have something to do with it. Dry desert air with temps in 50s became humid and in 50s. This is my first posting here but I am sure I’ll be back. I’ve read many of your stories here and know how you all feel. Its amazing how little is known about this by the medical community. I pray for you all. Comments
