To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Living with unpredicability - Vertigo About four years ago I awoke from a good nights sleep and sat up fast. The next thing I remembered was awakening from a horizontal position. I realized I had fainted and got really scared. I tried to get up and had a severe spinning seizure I felt like I was having a major earthquake in my head. I lay back down and reached for the phone for help. Long story short, I was diagnosed with Benign Positional Vertigo I was crippled by it for over a year. I had to crawl around my house or use my computer chair with wheels to get around. It was horrifying and debilitating. Just a week ago Sunday I awoke with the severe spinning sensation again. I had been on some long walks with my dog a few days before that and had experienced dizzy spells. The Vertigo was back and just as bad as before. My husband had to take time off to help me. This episode lasted for three days. Then it subsided. I was feeling good then once again about a week later it returned. This time it was different. It was a feeling of floating. I couldn’t get control of my body. At 3:00 am my husband rushed me to the hospital. I was given some help with medication and slept the entire day. The floating sensation stopped but the spinning is still there if I move my head in certain directions. I can not lay horizontal so have been sleeping in a unreclined recliner chair. My body is tired from that. My Doctor prescribed Meclizine. I just took the first dose. I hope it helps because I am completely disabled from this. I can’t drive my car or ride my bike. When I walk I risk falling. We have a dog and I have to tie him to my wrist so if I do faint he won’t run into the street. I really hope that this goes away soon. I’m very sad. Comments
