eye/cold/flu/vertigo/head

I started out with an eye problem a little more than a month ago. Went to the eye doctor, she said that cells were clogged under the eyelid and eye was scratched. She did ask me if I had been feeling extra tired, but I leaned towards saying no, because of my age, I just figured tired means that I’m 56 now…

A couple of days later, I broke out sneezing, really bad cold. Couldn’t take off from work, not one to run off to a doctor over a cold.. so it lasted a good 3 weeks or better. I was feeling better, sneezing, blowing nose was pretty much gone.

Last week, I woke up and I was not just dizzy. My head actually uncontrollably flew to the left and backward.. Vomiting right away. My husband had already left for work. I fell to the floor and dragged myself to the bathroom tub to keep vomiting there.
Fortunately, my husband had forgotten his cell phone and came back to get it. Found me, wanted to call ambulance, but I was such a mess from vomiting and couldn’t get into the shower because of the way my neck/head was reacting that once I got to dry heaves, opted to lie in bed to see if it lightened up. This was all about 4 to 5 AM it started. My husband got me to bed and I slept till about 11AM. He got me the toothpaste and clothes all needed to change to the bed, cause I still had the same reactions with my neck/head movement. It was bad! Scary! Felt like I was the actress in the exorcist movie!

Then he carried me out to the car and took me to the local hospital. From there they saw this happen again.. I know it was real cause I even asked my husband, were you seeing what I was feeling? He said, yes.. scary..

So I spent three days in the hospital, MRI’s and the whole thing.. They said it was only to rule out everything else.. I was healthy in that way. They sent me to an ear therapist and she is convinced this is an inner ear thing. So she is also sending me to an ear specialist. I have an appointment with my primary doctor tomorrow afternoon.

So when people say they get dizzy from Vertigo is it just dizzy? or is it actual uncontrolable movement of the head being tossed around like this?? Very bazzar! I almost feel as if the hospital is not telling me something.

I do work in a department store, and all that stuff coming in from other countries that I was unpacking over the holidays has me worried.. I had also eaten a slice of pizza the night before this all went down.. chicken Caesar.. So I am looking for ideas on this.. I am wondering if the board of health should be notified, cause the hospital is saying that I must have had the flu.. then it turns into this???

Please someone advise me, I’m so afraid of it coming back.. I’ve been taking meclizine for dizziness and vomiting but for the past couple of days haven’t needed it.

Thanks for anyone that can fill me in on this.
