To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Vertigo Vexation Feeling like I’m getting to the end of my rope with this medical misfortune. I’m a 52 year old female and was diagnosed with vertigo in December 2004. Went through several months of symptoms and doctors visits before being diagnosed. The first episode of this condition put me in a pretty disabling state. I couldn’t drive for nine months and was often times bedridden. I experienced lots of dizziness along w/the room spinning, headaches and diminished vision. After nine months, I finally started experiencing substantial amounts of relief. I could go longer periods of time before experiencing anymore symptoms. Over the years I’ve noticed a resurgence of the vertigo symptoms, but with additional symptoms (as I’m having today). Massive headaches and severe ear pain and dizziness (they are the 3 most noticeable symptoms. The ear pain started out feeling like my ear drum was being punctured w/a straight pin. It now feels as though someones driving a writing pen through my ear drum. My head feels like it’s being held together (at the temples) by a vice grip. I’ve tried to find a pattern of some sort in my day, my routine, my eating and/or my sleeping habits. Oftentimes I notice when the head and ear pain is severe I begin to feel nauseous. I have had CT brain scan and MRI (most recently) in September 2008. Both were normal.I just don’t know, the episodes and symptoms are much more frequent now and last much longer when I have them. The medicine (Meclizine) I was initially given for vertigo puts me to sleep so I don’t take it because I work. I try to pay attention to healthy eating (but wonder if I could be having some food that triggers these episodes). I am usually a person who doesn’t get lots of sleep (max 5 hrs/night), I make a conscientious effort to get at least 7.5 hrs of sleep now. This sickness is taking a toll on me (wholistically). Maybe someone else is going through something similar. Please share your experience and if there have been things you’ve done that have minimized your suffering. I am a woman of faith and I know it’s God that’s bringing me through this daily, and in seeking His wisdom, I know he brings people across one anothers path for enlightenment. Look forward to hearing someones story. Thanks for listening. Comments
