Fighting the demons I mean vertigo

by: J.T. on Tue, Mar 18 2008

In August 2001 I was window shopping with my girlfriend and all of a sudden I started to feel lightheaded and felt like the ground was sucking me up. It felt like my soul was being sucked out from my body, at that moment I really thought that I was a gonner. I had never experienced this kind of feeling before I was really scared, I couln’t even move. The security staff from the mall called 911 and they took me to a near hospital. There the doctors told me that the reason I felt lightheaded was because I hadn’t had any breakfast. They ran a blood test and everything came out negative. They discharged me and asked me to have a good breakfast before leaving the house. What a bunch of lousy doctors!!

Two days later I went to see another doctor and she didn’t know what to do with me. She referred me to Jackson Memorial Hospital here in Miami, Florida. They ran some MRI X-rays, cat scans etc… The doctors just gave me pills for the dizziness and they referred to an ENT. When I visited the ENT doctor, he thought my symptoms were caused by obstruction of my nose airways. After that I went to see one more doctor. This doctor just prescribed me dramamine. (All of these visits to the doctor happened in less than six months). I have no faith in any doctor whatsoever. After the mall incident in 2001 I have had only two more attacks of severe vertigo One in 2006 and the other a week ago (March 11, 2008) .

Now seven years later I’m still paying for those trips to the ER and to all those lousy doctors. You may be asking how do I know that I suffer from vertigo well I really don’t know for sure but I do my own research since doctors won’t do it for me. I know what is like to live in fear of not knowing when the next vertigo attack is gonna happen or how long is gonna last. Now I’m 28 years old and I can see that I am not the only one who has to deal with vertigo. All I can say is that we must not let it ruin our lives and if anyone knows of a good doctor please let me know I’m willing to give doctors one last chance…. Thanks for sharing and God bless you all!
