  I’m 52-yrs old. My first attack of vertigo (BPPV) hit when I was 48 while shoveling snow. I fell down and felt like the ground was sucking me up!   I am 27 years old, in good health and have had no recent ear problems when out of nowhere, one morning while at work, I felt like I was suddenly being pulled toward the back wall. I had suffered with it steadily getting worse until I could not get out of bed. I had to stay perfectly still for the symptoms to ease. But they never went away. I also found out I had cataract problems & had damaged nerve in left ear due probably to viral damage. Underwent all the balance tests & have done the exercises.   I have been experiencing vertigo of unknown origin for about 3 weeks, now. My PCP has treated me for an inner ear infxn [infection], which MAY have had something to do with it, but I saw a PA at the office, and she prescribed ativan, which is a pretty strong benzodiazapine (antianxiety med), but if you only take a little before bed, or when the serious dizziness starts, it’ll slow down the inner ear movement enough to sleep (if you have it during sleep, like I do). For over 13 years, I have suffered from severe vertigo, to the point that if someone wiggled the chair I was sitting in, I would instantly think I was going to be sick. For years, I’ve had to sleep on 2 pillows because I can’t lay flat. Several years ago, I got into a fight with a surgeon during an operation because he refused to let me have a small pillow.
