my tbi story

I want to share my story, but it takes a while for me to organize my thoughts. It was june 2001, I was working in the schools with adoloscents in special education as a speech therapist. I was hit in my head by a student and knocke unconciuoise. I don’t remember all, but from what was told to me . All I know is that my life has changed alot.

I have memory loss I can’t remember things that just happen. my speech is limited, headaches and pains, seizures Maybe I’m just rambling because I try not to make my family worry and I rarely talk . Doctors don’t understand because I seem “normal” and functional, but people with TBI are “great pretenders”.

It take alot for me to do every day chores like getting my children ready for school. I get easily distracted and fatigue. Most cases I hear that I look great or when are you going to get better? It’s been 7yrs since my injury and I’ve made progress, since my injury. How ever, I ‘m not 100% of my self, and I know I still have a long road to go.

Keep positive and believe that any little accomplishemt is a great one.
God Bless
