On the Mend

by: SG on Fri, May 02 2008

My boyfriend has suffered a traumatic brain injury due to hitting a tree on his snowmobile eventhough he was wearing all of the right gear it was the force of the impact that caused the damage. By the grace of god he only had minor bleeding in the brain and did not have to have sugery on it but he did shatter his cheek bone and knee cap. We are back at home and on the slow road to recovery, he can walk, talk, read, ect but has a very hard time with his short term memory. We are told with the continued memory at attention training he will be very close to where he was before the accident but wow this is a very scary process that I hope others can learn from! May god bless all of you that are going through this and just remember never give up hope no matter what doctors say they are not GOD!!

  • PLEASE HELP - by ADAM R. - (Mon, May 19 2008)
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, MY NAME IS ADAM ROGERS. AND APPROXIMATELY FIVE YEARS AGO I WAS IN A NEAR FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT. AND IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF SPEEDING, DRUNKEN, OR WRECKLESS DRIVING. BUT BECAUSE I RAN INTO A SIX HUNDRED POUND, WILD BOAR. I WAS RETURNING HOME ON HIGHWAY 1, JUST OUTSIDE OF CARMEL, CALIFORNIA. WHEN I RAN INTO A 600 LB. WILD BOAR. I DON’T REMEMBER IT OR ANY OF THE TWO YEARS PRIOR TO IT, BECAUSE I SUFFERED A T.B.I. I AM LUCKY, HOWEVER, TO BE ALIVE. MY PROBLEM NOW IS THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BALANCE. I HAVE PLENTY OF STRENGTH. AND CAN STAND EASILY. BUT THAT IS IT. AND I CANNOT USE A WALKER. BECAUSE WHEN I HIT THE ROAD I LANDED ON MY LEFT SHOULDER AND BROKE MY LEFT CLAVICLE. SO THE USE OF MY LEFT HAND AND ARM IS GREATLY IMPARED. I HAVE GOTTEN SOME THERAPY AT THE COMUNITY HOSPITAL OF THE MONTEREY PENINSULA AND THEY SAY THAT I HAVE NO TRUNK BALANCE. STRENGTH IS NOT THE ISSUE AS I CAN STAND EASILY. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS YOU COULD SHARE FOR HELP WITH REGAINING MY BALANCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. [more..]
