To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download marek’s tbi one day on march 29, 1989 my life was changed forever!i was slam dunking the basketball off a small platform 8 feet away from the rim!i was tired and not sure i should dunk again!i got a bad slip and jump off the platform and when i got to thre rim,i slipped off it and came down vertically and helplessly horizontally through the air!i thought coming through the air at that speed i might become paralized!INSTEAD,I HIT MY BRAIN STEM HARD AT IMPACT WITH THE GYMNASIUM FLOOR!I WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AT IMPACT AND I WAS UNCONSCIOUS OR IN COMA FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES! WHILE I WAS “OUT”, ICOULD FEEL MY BODY GOING THROUGH MOVEMENTS OF CONVULSIONS AND SEIZURES WHEN THEY STOPPED,I WAS STILL UNCONSCIOUS FOR 5 MINUTES AND WHEN I CAME TO,I KNEW MY LIFE HAD BEEN DRASTICALLY CHANGED,SOMETHING BAD HAD HAPPENED AND I WOULD NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN! THREE KIDS CARRIED ME OVER TO THE TRAINING ROOM AND TOLD THE COACH WHAT THEY HAD SEEN!THEY WATCHED OVER ME AND I CALLED MY DAD TO PICK ME UP AND I TOLD HIM BRIEFLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND HE TOOK ME TO THE LOCAL EMERGENCY ROOM!I AS BEST I COULD TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO ME AND THEY PUT ME INA CERVICAL COLLAR AND TOOK A CT SCAN OF MY BRAIN WHICH SHOWED ABNORMALITIES AND BLEEDING INSIDE MY BRAIN!THEY ADMITTED ME INTO THE HOSPITAL AND OBSERVED ME FOR 24 HOURS TO HELP AND CONTROL ANY SECONDARY PROBLEMS LIKE MORE SEIZURES I WAS JUST SO TIRED AND IN SUCH PAIN IN MY BODY AND LIMBS!THEY RELEASED ME THE NEXT DAY TO TAKE DILANTIN AND HAVE NEUROSURGICAL FOLLOWUP.THIS IS MY STORY OF MY TRAUMATIC BRAIN IINJURY!
