To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download The day that changed my life. In 1964-before the days of seat belts-I was a passenger in a car that went through a red light and had a “questionable” disagreement with a large semi. The other two ladies were treated and released from the hospital. but because I was sitting in the middle and hit my head on the steering wheel, I was in a coma for 54 days. After recovery I went to doctor after doctor trying to get some relief from excruciating pain. No doctor helped (so little was known about TBI at that time)until 11 years later when a doctor sent me to x-ray where he found an old neck injury. The neurologist he sent me to see helped me incredibly. I still have days when I have trouble remembering my address, phone number, etc.,but I really have improved so very much. My advice to anyone with a TBI is NEVER give up. Comments
