Never get over it…

I have three nephews and happen to be the World Greatest Aunt. My nephews are 18 and 19 years old (twins). Since the day they were born they have been a huge part of my life, I attended all their school trips, picked them up at school every Friday…they had a big impact on my Life. Well on July 19th, 2007 at 10.34pm I received a call from my sister saying her son had an accident and was being airlifted and would I meet him at the hospital (I lived closer).

I will never get over my nephew’s accident. My nephews are avid Dirtbikers, I for one have never been a fan. Whenever I babysat them I refused to let them ride them while I was in charge. Well on that day my nephew pushed the envelope he wanted to make the jump higher. He injured the left side of his brain.

After 4 days in coma he woke up and now 10 months later he still does not have the use of his right arm, he limps, speech is good (not great) and he has a few other issues. Yes I have my nephew and I am grateful that he survived. Will I ever get over the phone call that he was injured……………never. Will I let my 2 sons ever ride a dirtbike……never.
