Seizures

Hello, I wrote awhile back concerning my son who was having unexplained seizures After many, many tests we came up empty handed. The only thing that had recently changed prior to him having these episodes was that we put him on acne medication.

During the time he started the meds he complained of headaches and nausea. Then the seizures started…I kept telling the doctors that I thought it was related to the meds (minocycline)…they repeatedly told me no.

Well, after not getting any answers from them I decided to take my son off the meds and see what happened. He never had a seizure the whole time he was off the meds..so, I thought, is this just coincidence? So, I put him back on them…the seizures started again. I had my answer. I was able to find a doctor who actually was a part of a research team on the side affects of acne medication..my sons being one of them…he was able to tell me that my son was having an allergic reaction to the medication. He said it is rare but that is what was going on with my son.

They switched medications on him and he has been fine…its been a year now and he has no seizures. So, when you are looking for unexplained things like seizures all the sudden, please take a look at the meds you are taking…or anything else that has changed in your lifestyle…you may also be having an allergic reaction to something.
