To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download living with a seizure disorder I suffered a seizure disorder from a fall which occurred in 1970. Had a skull fracture and subdural hematoma relieved by surgery but seizures began 4 months post surgery. After several hospitalizations and different Rx’s was able to go back to work, but because of overdose of medications to stop several seizures in hospital, I suffered from anoxia with resulting short-term memory loss. Still had trouble with break-through seizures from time to time and began to suffer with depression due to inability to remember making daily living very difficult. In 1988 had another fall with subsequent disability - couldn’t work, drive, etc., but the grand-mal seizures which I had previously changed to partial temporal lobe type. Have been well controlled on Dilantin and primidone for about 10 years. The other benefit from this second episode - even though it caused severe cognitive impairment - my depression for the most part, was eliminated. Live a very simple life now with a wife who has remained my helpmate through it all. Thank God Comments
