Infant seizures run in my family.

About half of all of the infants born into my mother’s side of the family have had some type of seizures by their third month of life. This holds true for 5 of my 9 aunts and uncles, half of thier children and grandchildren, my sister, my nephew, and two of my three children.
My oldest daughter is 5 years old now, but suffered from seizures from the age of 1 week. She hasn’t experienced any seizure activity since being weaned from her Phenobarbitol after being 6 months seizure free. She was almost a year old at that time, and I was glad to get her off of it since it made her so “zombie-like.” She seems to be developing normally now.
Most recently, my four month old daughter has also begun having seizures. We started her on Keppra two days ago. So far I prefer it over the Phenobarbitol since she seems to be more like her normal self, maybe even a little happier. Her neurologist said that if everything went well, we would continue to give it to her for another two years.
I am just now learning of the different types of seizures and their overall effects. It just seems to me that there would be more answers out there.
