My son is six year old and his seizures are rapidly becomming worse.

by: Amanda on Fri, Apr 11 2008

My six year old son was diagnosed with asthma at 7 months. I thought living with that was bad enough. Starting in preschool, the teachers would tell me that he was spacing out or daydreaming every now and then. I would get after him about it and tell him that school is important and he should pay attention.

At the begining of his first grade year it became worse. No matter what I said to him or how much T.V. I took from him, he wouldn’t improve. Finally, ADD was brought up and was mentioned to his pediatrician. He was put on meds for that, but a week later an ambulance was called to the school. At first it was blown off as a strange asthma attack, but I knew that wasn’t it. Two weeks later he stayed the night at his grandmother’s and he collapsed in her arms. She called the ambulance (not knowing about the previous incident).

I don’t think the hospital personnel believed what was happening to him until he did it again while he was getting a chest x-ray. That nurses face was so white! an EEG was done and they found seizure activity. At first I was told that they were Absence Seizures. Then, as more occured I was told that they were Simple Partials. By the time we were able to the go to the neurologist they had become Complex Partials with the possibilities of becomming Grand Mals. Just yesterday, right before school was let out, the school called the ambulance again, in front of all the parents in the town. He collapsed and stopped breathing. Even after he came out of the seizure he wasn’t breathing normally. I have looked and researched all the possible causes for this and I can’t figure it out. Nothing fits and I am so frightened that the next time will be even worse.
