I broke my right ankle in October 2003 at work, what should have been a WC claim turned into a nightmare. I was put in a boot cast and like a idiot continued to work on it cause at the time i did this the employer I was working for did not have WC insurance. I wore the boot for 6 weeks and things seemed to heal(or so I thought) about 2 weeks after i took it off the pain was still there and the Dr’s kept telling me it would feel better and to take ibuprofen.

That was 6 years ago…. Finally I got really upset and started telling the Dr there was something not right and that it was still super painful, they finally sent me to a pain clinic which turned out to be the dumbest thing I could have ever done. In fear of getting accused of Dr searching I broke and found a new one. He sent me to a RSD specialist that had taken care of his wife. He hadn’t alot of info on RSD and wasnt real sure what it was but BELIEVED that there was something wrong.

I went to this Dr and first thing he said was “yep that is what it is and this is what you can do” He told me there is no cure and that it is the worst pain anyone ever has to go through. I was greatful for his honesty and the help. I have constant pain but ,to know that i am not alone is a good and bad thing. They make you think that you are crazy at times but there is someone that will listen eventually. Thanks to my Doc i can atleast try to function now.
