It was just a regular practice, everything was going fine until I twisted my ankle and my whole leg went numb but tingily at the same time.I went misdiagnosed for 3 months before I found a doctor who knew what he was talking about.Within five minutes of meeting with him he told me that I had RSD The next day I was scheduled for a spinal block and was a week away from having a few of my toes amputated(luckly for me the amputation didnt have to be done). Since being diagnosed I have had a total of 16 spinal blocks and 2 cathetor surguries, and countless physical therapy My doctors office soon became my second home. My sophomore year I had a total of 63 absences but still managed to pass all my classes. Living with RSD is both emotionaly and physicaly painful and exausting. Other people don’t know the amount of pain you are going through, can’t understand your mood swings, and I have been told countless times that im faking for attention.Somedays are tougher then others, I have days where just my leg is sore and others where my whole body hurts, and I can’t even move. Its a huge change in my lifestyle and being so young, I miss out on the smallest things that all my friends are getting to do. However as much as a burden this has been it is an even bigger blessing because it has made me stronger as an individual and I appritiate the smaller things in life. Its not easy for me as the patient but its also not easy for the people around me either, there is nothing they can do to make the pain go away and thats tough for them. Keep a positive attitude and you will manage to make it through every day Comments
