I have RSD
by: Linda on Mon, Jan 28 2008
Facebook Twitter

I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago with RSD in my left Shoulder due to an injury at work and also a shoulder surgery. Because this is a workers comp case I have been thru the mill. My latest experiance is awful I was sent to a pain clinic where they have attempeted to put me through this 8 week program to help mangage my pain with exercise and meditation and art therapy not telling me when I went in that the other plan was to take me off of my pain medication. The Doctor promising the insurance company that in eight weeks I will be off of the opoids and more functional the bad thing for me is he did not tell me that was part of the plan.

I have a type A personality it is almost impossible for me to meditate I have also started having problems with the right shoulder he said it is Bicep Tendinitis and Bursitis My case is very complicated when I had the surgery it was to clean out the shoulder because they said I had a frozen shoulder I was sent for an MRI one year after surgery and the radialogist report said there was evidence of a rotator cuff repair there were two metal surgical clips in there the surgeon says he didnt put any clips in there. HMMM I wonder what happened anyway I ended up going to Bay Area Pain Managment this is the place that I mention that has me in this program I a have really struggled there because of there approach.

I talked to the Dr on Thursday he said I was not participating as I should I told him that I was having a hard time and still concerned about the MRI and wondering if there was somthing in my shoulder that should not be there he said I needed to go home and make a decision about if I wanted to be there or not because he did not have time for me to be dicken around with this. ( Excact words) This clinic will make 30,000 dollors for me going through it for 8 weeks they told the insurance company it would be more cost effective for them because they wont have to pay for my pain meds anymore.

I am so upset I have been working like this for the past year as a phlebotomist I had a nerve block in November 07 that sent everything into a sprial it feels now as if my arm has been burned most of the time I cant let clothes or blankets even touch it. The Dr basically has said if I dont decide to finish this program he will send me back to work. I feel like I am being pushed around by him. Am I doing something wrong does anybody beleive that you can meditate this awful burning aching pain away! I am so scared to see him on thursday
