hoping to deal with RSD

In oct/9/06 I was a back seat passenger in a taxi cab, the driver went to change to the right lane and he was not paying attention,( he was driving with a broken arm and talking on the cell phone with the other) so after his lane change we hit a car as traffic was stopped, I flew out of my seat and hit my shoulder on the passenger back seat, I was more concerned with my knees and after about 10 minutes I lesft the cab and took muni home, Iwas quit shaken up, the next day I could not lift my arm 5 degres and that lasted for 4 months 1 day after the accident I seen a dr in urgent care, x-rays were normal and i was givenan rx of vicodin, the pain got so bad I seen another dr who took more x-rays and gave me norco which helped, then I seen an ortho dr whom said i had whiplash, after 15 rounds of pt I seen another ortho dr about 2 months later whom said i had brachial plexus neuritis, I had 5 days of pt but the pain got so much worse, my friends and family knew they had to be careful of my shoulder as just touching it was painful, I had seen my usual urgent care dr about 8 more times as well as pain management no one knew what was going on until i believe in dec of 07 thats when the urgent care dr stated e thought I had RSD, he called my pain management dr to concur with him but he did not think I had RSD then I seen a neuro dr and she said it was a possability as well as a new pain management dr, as my old painmanagement dr just wanted to give me pain meds and no discussio whatsoever!
even toug I expressed how depressed i was and how I could not work on duragesic patches, at this time my work is suffering so bad as well as my own self, I have become so depressed that I wanted to die or cut off my shoulder, In dec of 07 I went to see my primary care dr and she brought up RSD and took me off work! I really needed that, Iam now awaiting approval for a stellate ganglion block by my pain managemant dr and also have seen a new ortho dr whom gave my 2 cortisone injections but he stated that though I do have rsd sx,s he does not think its rsd, so I have 4 out of 5 drs whom think this is what I have. Iam so depressed to the point I want to check into a hospital most times and I stay in bed alot, I try and do a little yard work but after 10 minutes I have to rest and then pay the price of getting the pain under control, I worry about not being able to go back to work and have lost 40 lbs as I cant eat due to the painbeing so bad,
I am happy to finally have a diagnosis after so long but do worry, I am scared and depressed and at this point unless things change I cannott see making it until the end of the year, and I amfine with that I will get my orders in tow and take it from ther, my son is grown so I really have nothing to lose. I am 42 years old a female and just feel my life is over, I have read the longer it goes on the least chances are for a full recovery so for now I take day by day and I pray and I really feel for all the people whom in their life had have to gone for chronic pain its such an awful thing to have to endure. I will try and stay strong but not sure for how long I can take this pain, may god look out for us all.

GOD bless y all that have this.Ive had RSD for 10 years, i got it after a foot operation, it got so bad nothing could touch my rt foot,the burning was intense and the hot needles,they tryed nerve blocks in my spine, did ok for the 1st 2, then they hit a nerve in my rt side and then nothing could touch that area either.

Unlike many here, my RSD didn’t occur until recently. My story is long, but I will try to make it as short as I can.
In August, I went to my PCP as I had a pain in my heel, but could not find anything wrong that would cause pain. I basically went because I am flat footed and have diabetes

Left foot surgery in July of ‘08, diagnosed with RSD in Sep. Began 30 days of steroids, then neurontin. The nerve conduction study shows poly neuropathy (both legs), and now on Cymbalta and Neurontin for nerve pain.

Five years ago I fell and twisted my foot in Karate class and it hurt a little bit. I walked on it for three months and it finally got so bad I couldn’t stand it, I had a fracture which put me in a cast for 8 weeks and I was in amazing pain I hadn’t felt before.

my son was just turning 3 when i fell 9 to 10 fell out of a garage attic to a cement floor and broke my heal bone. i was doing ok basic break just need a good dr so i went to a detroit hospital for help.
