To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download RSD - What Works for Me I am a 30 year old female who developed RSD after a fall at work. I was working as a CNA and slipped in urine and sprained my ankle. After about three months of pain, missery, and questioning my problem I heard……we think you have RSD. After that my doctor washed his hands of me. I was sent to a moody, needle freak, cut happy Pain Managment “specailist”…….what a joke. I bone scan showed positive signs of RSD and confirmed what the doctors had assumed. So I tried the lumbar sympathetic nerve block. After four I had had enough! I had various reactions from them from not be able to feel my leg to my vitals all dropping drastically. I wasn’t warned of these side effects and when I asked my doctor he shrugged me off. He refused to discuss my illness with me or discuss treatment options. All he would discuss was the spinal cord stimulator. That I had no options. He refused to even discuss problems I was having with my oral medications. Thankfully I had a good Primary doctor. I could talk to him. We discussed options that I had learned about. His motto was try it. If it helps keep doing it! He sent me to another pain clinic and prescribed a tens unit for me. With the help of herbal suppliments, parifin dips and the tens unit I have had some relief. I still suffer from RSD…..I have bad days, but I also have days that I can actually stand myself. For me this has been a humbling and difficult experince. It’s hard when people ask you about RSD. What can you say when doctors cannot give you an answer. My advice to people who have RSD…..research everything you can. Try everything you can…even when people around you think your crazy. You’re not!!!! It’s a long road but it doesn’t have to be lonely. I personally use MSM, Chromium, Glucosamin, chrondrotin, valerian root, parafin dips, heat, and a tens unit. Try a tens unit before you agree to have an inplant. Try everything you can before you let someone cut you and possibly cause you more problems. If your doctor doesn’t listen and you’re not happy….get rid of him/her and find someone who will. And pray to God for guidance and help. I pray for a cure or maybe some day I’ll be one of the lucky ones and it will disappear as quickly as it showed it’s ugly face. Comments
