I was reading the submission by the mother with the teenage son who had the severe PLMD. I at first was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I used the machine for six months with no results. I consistently threw the mask off and could not tolerate it.

My mother told me about putting two bars of soap under your sheets on each side of your bed. My mother inlaw had terrible problems with RLS and she told me it helped her tremendously.

My problem start in 1991 and otc would work, my body was growing a tolerance fast. In 1996 I was diagnosed with c5-6 compression which requried narcotics and surgery, my PLMD went away .. After I stopped taking narcotics, it returned!!!

I find that lying in bed on a flat, frozen bag, gel pack used to keep lunch boxes cool, placed under the lower back just below the belt line helps to releave my symptoms, until I can fall asleep. It will thaw in about 30 minutes. The cold isn’t intense and my symptoms ease in a few minutes.

My teenage son has severe PLM. It’s the most pitifult thing I’ve ever seen. He gets to sleep quickly but jerks all through the night and it looks as though he’s been in a war with his sheets all wrapped around him. He’s exhausted during the day, sleeping during class and anywhere he can (jerks in naps too). It pains me to watch it.
