To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Dealing with Parkinson’s Although I was diagnosed with late onset Parkinson’s six months ago, at age 74, I realized after reading about the disease that I have had slowly increasing symptoms for the past three years. The symptoms included tremors of the hands and legs, slow movements, poor, cramped hand writing and sometimes cloudy thinking. My doctor told me my symptoms did not yet require any drugs at the time of her examination last December. She said I should see her again in six months. Since that time, it seemed to me my symptoms were exacerbating. So I decided to experiment with some lifestyle changes. For the past week I have had no alcohol and no caffeine. The result so far is a sharp reduction in symptom severity and a clearer mind. I am also exercising more and being careful about what I eat, avoiding junk foods, heavy starches and sugars. Best of all I feel more energetic! I intend to continue this program with the hope I can further reduce the impact of PD. Comments
