What?!! They Both Have Parkinsons?

by: laurie on Mon, Jun 02 2008

Both my husbands parents and mine were divorced. Our mothers had picked up the pieces of thier lives, learned to be their own champions only to find out that they both had Parkinsons.
My mother did not want to live in an assisted living facility and stayed at home until we had to have her hospitalized for dehydration. We told her that she could not return home and that we had made arrangements for her to move near us in an assisted living home. At first, she was upset, but as she made friends and even found a boyfriend, she began to have a great quality of life.
My mother-in-law was able to live on her own for a little longer than my Mom, but she asked to be moved into a facility.
It was difficult at first, but the progression of the disease slowed considerably for both of them, once the medicine schedule and meal schedule and laundry etc. were being taken care of for them.

I wanted to let anyone know out there who is wrestling with making the decision of Assisted Living for your loved ones with Parkinson’s, that you will not regret it.
God Bless.
