Severe pain

Eleven years ago,I opened my mouth wide to eat a sandwich , the pain in my upper lip area hit me very hard ,I thought Wow ! what was that. This pain attack took me to my Dentist ,she did not see anything on the X-ray,but we went ahead with a root canal.

Now after 11 years with this attack coming about once a month ( some times 2-3 months )Over the the years I have had a lot of Dental work with no attacks.

For the last 3 weeks I have experienced constant attacks,all centered in the lip area below my left nostril , my Doctor has prescribed 2 150 MG lyrica pills twice a day ( 4 total ) It works!, but do I take these for ever ?
