To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Newly Diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy I have had a few unexplained problems during the last several years. It wasn’t until the symptoms continuously hit me in Dec. 2008, that I started to get some answers. I have had a nerve test and some blood work done. I have been told that I have peripheral neuropathy because my blood tests showed that I am “slightly” low on vitamin D. I find it hard to believe that the extent of the pain I have been experiencing would be caused by a “slight” vitamin deficiency. I did have back surgery 14 yrs. ago for scoliosis and I do think that might have something to do with the neuropathy, but my doctor said that the type of neuropathy I’ve shown to have wouldn’t be caused from my back surgery. So, my doctor told me to take 400 IU of vitamin once daily and to take Lyrica 2x a day. I have been taking the Vitamin D and Lyrica for a month now. I still have symptoms frequently. I have good and bad days…but lately more bad than good. Not only is this painful, but annoying! My feet, legs, and sometimes my hands: burn, tingle, feel numb, feel like I am walking on nails or glass, etc. I also seem to have trouble with circulation. So, do I eventually take enough vitamin D that my symptoms go away? Can it ever be cured?I really want relief and I really need ideas! At this time, I have only been to my family doctor so far. I haven’t decided whether to go to a neurologist, yet or not. Any suggestions, remedies, or websites to visit would be great! Comments
