Feeling Hopeless

I am 57 and last year was told I had neuropathy This was only after a series of steroid shots in my back. I hurt from my lower back down and when my doctor wouldn’t listen I went to a chiropractor Naturally he thought it was my back. He ordered an MRI after adjustments didn’t work and I was told I had bulging discs. No one was paying attention to my walking… my feet burned as if I was standing on hot coals at first, then my side hurt so bad it was hard to walk after that the numbness started moving down my left leg to my feet in a matter of a week. When the numbness started in my right foot I knew it was time to do something. Still thinking it was my back I made an appointment with an orthopedic doctor who specialized in back injuries expecting to have back surgery since the pain was so bad. Another MRI later he told me I had neuropathy and sent me back to my new family doctor.

I am on Lyrica and it helps most days other days I am not so sure. I still have the numbness and have days where my side & hip burn. I have been told that the numbness probably will never go away. Also before the Lyrica my right knee would feel like the joint in my knee was going out.. it was down right embarrassing to walk in front of anyone. The Lyrica stopped that, but I do notice when I stand my knees seem to be locked back.

I just wish someone would have took my symptoms seriously and maybe I wouldn’t be living with the pain and numbness.
