Peripheral Neuropathy

I am a 40 year old female who was diagnosed with PN last August. Mine is from diabetes. I was diagnosed with diabetes over 10 years ago and did not do what my dr. told me to. I am paying for it today. I have a sharp stabbing burning pain in both of my feet. I am taking neurontin 4x 300.g, tegratol 3x 200mg and cymbalta 1x 60mg for depression This is so painful at times that I don’t know what to do literally. I take tramadol 50mg, 1-2 every 4 to 6 hours, but it doesn’t help me.

I have a 5 year old, a husband and I work. I have used all of my sick and vacation time up because of this sickness. Sometimes I am at my wits end I don’t know what to do. I just wish, just like anyone does that has a disease that they could find a cure or have medicine that controls it better. It sometimes seems like my doctors don’t care that I have this pain. I would really like to find a good doctor or a center that deals with just neuropathy I live in Tallahassee, Florida so if anyone knows of a good doctor, please let me know. Thank you so much.

I am an R.N., worked in a busy OB dept. @ a large hospital in town for almost 18 yrs., and loved my job! I never thought in a million yrs. that I’d quit nursing before retirement, or that I would ever suffer in this way. [more..]
