what is really wrong???

by: Carrie Fouts on Wed, Jan 09 2008

In May of 2003 I was working for a child care center , we ranged in children ages 2 1/2 to 13years. We would often take the children on outings, field trips. One such occasion landed us at a indoor jungle gym play structure, while playing in the structure I recieved the injury of my life, I ended up resting in a lofty area that I was able to supervise children playing , while I rested a young girl I believe her to have been 5 or 6 snuck up on me,she was in an entry way to the loft that yet was high off the ground you would step down into it once you were up in the play structure.

I was laying on my side partialy with my head resting in my hand, out of nowhere I felt intence pain, anger and fear. I was unaware of what had just happend all I knew was a body had just landed on me with what felt like extream force.I lay there stunned for a few seconds then I became worried about who had just hit me and what had just happend, I only herd giggling and laughter of children playing and with reliefe began to realize this was all play and every one was alright. As I went to pick myself up I then realized I was not alright. Immeadiate stiffness took over my right shoulder arm and neck searing pain began to tear down my neck. I was hurt.

I was alarmed by the pain but not too alarmed how bad could it be? as time wore on through out the day the pain got worse and every thing became stiffer. I called my superviser and was told to see a DR, wich I did, the diagnosed me with a neck sprain, put my arm in a sling my neck in a soft brace gave me something for pain and sent me home to just give it a couple weeks to heal.
It is now 2008 and NOTHING is better! After the first 3 years of severe pain episodes a few that actully began to attack while driving,I began to get a little louder while talking to my DR. One day durring a visit he began to review my M.R.I.s and he went “ah HA”!
” you knocked out several discs in your neck! Thats why you are in sooo much pain ” He the whipped out his perscription pad and perscribed 100 tablets of Norco, and told my to see another DR in another town. So I went to see the other DR and she ran tests and came up with NOTHING. So finally they put me in a pain clinic and basically told me thst I now suffer fron irreversible nerve damage, neck disease if you will, and that there is nothing that can be done.

Every day is painful, I sleep halfway sitting up due to pressure pain when I lay flat. Even typing this caused me severe burning pain in my neck and both shoulders. I suffer from numbness in my face that has paniced everyone into thinking I was having a stroke 2 times now. My quality of life has changed I m 34 years old but I live like I am 60. This all could have been different had they caught the disc issue right away, now I have discs up and down my spine that periodically pop out causing me not only pain but EVERYTHING! They said due to the liggaments bein streched out of place for so long this will happen for the rest of my life.
