It started about 8 years ago.

I am a white male 56 year old at the time of this writing.

I used to be an avid runner. Doing about 4 miles 3 times a week or more. In good shape over all, I had never even been in the hospital.
Then about 8 years ago I suddenly started having pain in my heels, especially when I first got out of bed in the morning.

My Doctor perscribed a pain med that has since been taken off the market due to the high number of heart problems accociated with users. Since my stomach could not tolerate that med, he sent me to a podiatrist who diagnosed me with Plantar fasciitis and suggested I try an orthodic [orthotic] in my shoes. Custom made inserts in my shoes only caused more pain.

The next thought was that I had Tarsal tunnel syndrome which is much like carpel tunnel syndrome except in the feet. A battery of tests including a MRI didn’t find anything.

Since the poditrist worked out of an office in a diabetic clinic he then tested me for diabetes, as have every doctor I’ve seen since then. 8 years and gallons of blood later, leaves me with the same diagnosis, Idiopathic peripheral neuropathy

As I said, the pain started in my heal, progressed to my toes up my legs and is now in my hands and fingers.
I’m currently taking 60mg of Cymbalta 5mg of methadone and 30mg of Propoxyphene on bad PN days.
I’ve always been active but this disease has slowed me way down. I’d like to get hooked up with a support group to see what has worked for others.
