My life Before and After Myasthenia Gravis

by: Kandis on Wed, Jan 16 2008

I was diagnosed with MG when I was twelve years old. I had everything that any kid could ever want. Everything seem to be perfect in my life. Until…. one day when I was playing basketball and I just fell. I didn’t know why I fell, so I got back up and started running, and I fell again. What now? I thought. My mom saw something that no one else could ever see, A sick child everybody from the outside thought I was just a clumsey child. But mother knows best!!

So she took me to the doctor and they said nothing was wrong with me. We went for second, third, and fourth opions. I countined to struggle my way through school and hold myself together while I was dealing with such a load, and waiting for someone to tell me diffrent. One doctor called and asked me to come in for a few blood tests, and when I did each container showed up positive. In a way I was greatful, but the other part of me wasen’t because, They introduced my side effects, treatmeant offers and the medication I would have to take just so that I can live. As a child that meant NO SPORTS, NO NOTHING. I had to deal with this life long illness and stay strong in the mean time. This illness has not defeated me it defenitley has made me a better person. As a young adult I realize we all are put through diffrent tests, THIS IS MY TEST.
