A year in my life with Myasthemia [Myasthenia]

I was diagnosed with myasthemia a year ago. I went to the emergency room with one eye totally closed and the other half way closed, my breathing was shallow and I had trouble speaking. They thought I had had a stroke but discovered after three days it was myastemia [myasthenia] gravis. After release fromt the hospital I stayed home for about three months from work and the symptoms just came one after another. I got to where I could not talk, I could barely swallow and take my medication. I lost 40 pounds in a month. I gradually came back to where I could communicate but the medication caused all kinds of side effects such as loss of bladder control diaharrea, etc. I finally got back to work and after about two month bent over to tie my shoe and broke two ribs, caused from taking the steroids so long. I have just returned to work now from a disc crumbling on my spine which was very painful. I do not know what is in store and that is probably best. I want to work and stay active as long as possible.

I find it fascinating that no matter who I saw or how I described my symptoms…. no one picked up on it. [more..]
