Migraine Mystery

Young male with cerebral palsy and Hydrocephalus (has a shunt) is getting frequent migraines (more than normal). New addition to his life is a new swimming pool and hot tub which he goes in daily (weather permitting). Pool introduced two weeks ago.

Morning no symptoms of migraine appetite normal. Lunch is the same. At 4 pm he is in the hot tub (maximum of 5 eight-minute sessions) and remainer in pool till about 5:30 Hot Tub temp: 104F. Pool temp: 88F.

At dinner appetite drastically diminished, migraine establishes itself, sometimes vomiting. No temperature. Some eye flickering sideways (which is common when he is fatigued).

We try to keep him in shade using umbrellas, and he wears dark sunglasses but there is some glare off the water.

My question: Does a hot tub session affect the shunt pump? Are the chemicals in the hot tub a possible trigger?

He does get migraines but not on a daily basis and these in the past have been linked to barometric pressure changes. Vomitting sometimes happens but is the exception.

We will be investigating further and will be having a CAT scan to check the shunt line.
