Migraines - things to try: Magnesium Supplements and Imitrex

Hi all, I have been suffering from migraines since I was about 6 or 7 years old. I am now 27. I have found that taking magnesium glycinate vitamins helps to control/prevent my migraines somewhat. I would recommend this for anyone who is having trouble finding something that works. It is a simple/natural way to prevent them and it won’t hurt you. Most people probably do not eat enough food with magnesium in it anyway. I wouldn’t take a whole lot of it when you first start though (Remember Milk of Magnesia and what it is for). I started taking one every other day and then after a short amount of time, one every day. I usually take them before or after lunch. Also, I find that drinking a lot of water throughout the day helps. To get rid of a migraine I take Imitrex. It works, but I have side effects from the medicine about a half hour after taking (skin is sensitive to warm/hot water - it feels like it is burning me, I get very heavy and pretty much have to lay down because it’s too hard to hold myself up). However, probably 45 minutes after taking it, the migraine is gone, but the side effects linger for a few hours. However, it is better than having the migraine. I hope this helps someone!
