To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Waiting for the next one… I’ve had migraines since about age 14. My first headache was so frightening because I’d never had pain so intense. I remember I just rocked back and forth, holding my head and crying. I’m 37 now and have tried a number of medications. Thankfully we finally hit upon one that works and it’s a miracle. My migraines are not always severe. They do not always follow an aura. (Or maybe I don’t always notice it.) I have them about 3 or 4 times a month. Without meds, the pain lasts about 4 to 6 hours. Now that I have found Maxalt, I find the pain is significantly reduced or eliminated within 10 minutes of taking the pill. However, sometimes I don’t always think the pain coming on might be a migraine “maybe this is just a sinus headache, I’ll wait”…and so by the time I submit to the pain and realize it IS what it is…the Maxalt will take just a tiny bit longer to work….sometimes up to 30 minutes. I figure it’s my fault though for not listening to my body better! I used to be terrified of getting the next migraine at an inopportune time. But now I’ve finally found a medicine that works, I feel somewhat more free to make plans and enjoy my life. If I’ll listen to my body, and take the meds when I first feel the slight pain creeping in, I will never sink into the severe, debillitating, nausea inducing, pit of despair that is a full blown migraine.
