To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Long term effects of Meningitis Thanks Jean for your submission. I can appreciate you inability to find information on the long term response to meningitis. From my own experience with bacterial meningitis, while I did recover very well, I do note certain “changes.” For example, when I get ill, every part of my spine aches to the point I cannot think. I am quite mentally capable, but I find my mental energy levels are low at times — I just do not have the same response to life as I used to. There is little written or support for living with life changes. If, in my case, you still look physically “unscathed”, it is hard for people to understand the changes that have happened to the “inside” of you. My personal feeling is this, meningitis is a serious illness. If some areas of your body were affected, those “weakened” areas are the first to flare up when other conditions aggravate it. Has your husband been screened for arthritis? Have you been referred a neurologist? Did your husband have a spinal tap done? I certainly hope you get some good assistance. I do know of some people who have gone the acupuncture route — there is a special form of acupuncture created by a medical doctor out of Vancouver Canada that addresses chronic back pain. Comments
