NPH

by: Maureen on Thu, Mar 20 2008

I was diagnosed with NPH five years ago, but was told by my neurosurgeon then that I should wait until I noticed more symtoms. Well, about a year ago I started walking worse and tripping/falling more. I went to a different neurosurgeon for a 2nd opinion a couple months ago. She had another MRI done (because mine was 5 yeas old). I had to go into the hospital a couple weeks ago for the lumbar drain trial.

Apparently I’m a successful candidate for the shunt procedure. It sounds like a scary operation, but with the technology nowadays, I’m not as worried. I’ve lived with this condition most of my 53 years, but it’s gotten worse the past 3-5 years. I’m anxious to be able to walk normal and have better balance. I’ll come back to this site after my operation and let you all know how it went.
