To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Cluster Headaches or Something Else? I need help… I just had a new baby 2 1/2 weeks ago. She is awsome and doing great, but I have been having terrible headaches (don’t know for sure if new baby has anything to do with, but..). I guess it started about 5 days after I delivered: my neck hurt for a couple of days and I couldn’t move it very well. When my neck got better, I began having severe throbbing headaches that wake me up at night (interestingly while I am in the middle of dreaming). The pain is across the top of my head, throbbing relentlessly and hurts soooo bad. If I breathe deep during “an epesode”, it hurts even worse. Seems as if the faster my heart beats the more intense the pain/throbbing. The pain peaks within minutes, and is severe for about 15-20 minutes, and then gets better. Still a bad headache, but not throbbing as hard and becomes tolerable. I have done this for the last 5 nights. The last 3 nights the pain is more intense on the right side. During the day I usually feel fine, but I get the same headache (although not even close to as bad) when I am more active. Bending over causes my head to throb/hurt. Yesterday my right ear began to hurt (there is no ear infection present). I went to the Dr. today, he thought it might be cluster headaches and gave me a script for prednisone. Upon filling the script, the pharmisist said he would not reccomend taking prednisone while nursing a baby (she is only a couple of weeks old and eats all the time). I don’t know what to do! I am exhausted, and I dread going to bed at night. I didn’t have an epideral or anything during labor, only petosin [pitocin] (I am sure I spelled theat wrong). Can anyone out there relate to what I am saying or even have a clue? I have read online about cluster headaches and don’t feel like that’s what I have, but maybe I am wrong… Seems funny this began right after baby. Thank you for any input. Oh, and also, thank you for reading!! Comments
