My mom at age 85 is diagnosed with GBS and the cause is unknown .We live in Turkey and she lives in a small town. one day she complained about tingling in her fingers and later she complained about weakness, she went to hospital they gave her some pain killers and send her back, the other night her blood pressure suddenly increased she went to emergency room and they gave her medicine to decrease the blood presure and her blood pressure decreased realy bad(80-40) and the third day she was really feeling bad , she called me I was in another city (8 hours drive) when I came she could walk hardly I took her to the hospital an orthopedist checked her and said this is neurological but the neurologist in the hospital decided it is orthopedic and send us back home .At that time my mom started to paralyse I put her into my car with some help and drove to another city to a research hospital as soon as we went to the emergency room they said its GBS .

She stayed 2 weeks in the hospital 5 day IVIG is applied in the second day of the theraphy she started to move her fingers. She had swallowing problems and her voice changed but few days later they are gone.

We came back home she is paralysed bound to bed, she can move her arms and her legs but she has a very bad tingling problem in her hands and feet she says they are burning. We dont know what to expect can she be able to stand up, walk or at least sit in a wheelchair. She was very healty despite her age and very active .

I am trying to control her diet she was overweight before now she lost some so I am trying to keep her weight in control I beleive it will not be good now to loose weight. every three hours with help she sits in bed and changing positions .I use some body lotions and make massages.every night I give some laxative drinks and some B complex vitamins.

A physical theraphist worked with her everyday for two weeks now she is trying to make her exercises by herself with some help. I dont know what to do, doctors doesnt say much we are waiting and praying.
