To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Heartbroken Mom On 6/4/09, my 10 year old son was complaining of his legs feeling week. I told him to rest a while and he will feel better in the morning. Over the course of the next few days he was getting worse with back aches, numb toes and fingers, neck aches, just his body ached as a whole. He also had headaches. We took him to his pediatrician which he told us to give him milk and soak him in the bath for he was experiencing Growing Pains. As the days went on he got worse and worse and started limping. We took him Urgent Care on Saturday and the doctor referred him to Children Hospital of Los Angeles. The doctor ran a series of tests on him and did a Spinal Tap and right away they had an idea that he had Guillain Barre Syndrome First they had to rule out any other possibilities of any of diseases or infections (tumors, cancer, ect.) Today is 6/16/09 and my son is still in the hospital being treated for this Syndrome and he is walking with a waddle kind of like a duck. The doctor said that he should be better by the time school starts in September, but the football star will most likely be unable to play his Favorite Sport until next year. I’m am just happy that it is reversible and I just can’t wait for him to get back to his old self again. If anyone have a similar story or know of anyone that had to recover, could you let me know of the length of time that it will take for my son to get back running around? Comments
