To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Chronic Guillian Barre I have been battling reoccuring GBS for approximately 10 years. I was 36 when I was first diagnosed. It took several months to recover after receiving my first five day treatment. Several months after my first treatment, I was back to approximately normal. A year and half later the symptoms came back (numb and tingling hands and feet and weakness in my legs and arms). My GBS comes on slowly and over a two or three month period. It always starts in the hands and feet and progresses up the legs and arms. I went through a second treatment and things again improved and I was back to normal activity after several months. Since then, I have had 6 or 7 relapses. The IVIG treatments still seem to halt the GBS however, the relapses are coming sooner now. Because the relapses are coming approximately every 4 to 6 months, my Neurologist has me on a monthly infusion of IVIG and a daily dose of Cellcept (immune supressant drug). I continue to be active and exercise everyday which I believe helps to regain and maintain muscle strength. I have a great doctor and has been very pro-active with my treatment and we are hoping for the best. Comments
