undiagnosed? guillain barre’?

by: kiki on Mon, Aug 27 2007

end of july 07 got up and could not stand on my legs it was a weakness i had never experience b4- numbness weakness fatigue and some burning. also a rubbery feeling and lack of control like the muscles over extened. also some muscle loss in rear. thought it would just get better. it didn’t. for 2 weeks it progressed to every different set of muscle- first the back of legs then the front also arms then went to emergency room. explained to dr. he offered me a pill for my head after he asked me if i hear voices and see things -could not believe this dr. was calling me crazy -did not even draw blood to check for infection. after i left ER it progressed to stomach chest and throat. there seemed to be a direct corrolation to progressing of destruction in my body to sugar intake.
it has now been almost a month the 1st 2wks by far the worst, however i am left w/ devistation of my body no strenth, easily fatigued and am afraid to put sugar in my body. if it was gbs they could have treated and stopped progression. — also b4 this happened i had a tooth abscess and the day b4 i couldn’t stand on legs i had raw milk-which i understand can cause listeria - which also causes numbness in limbs.
has anyone had anything like this? m.s. has been ruled out.

I want to start out saying even though it’s said that GBS isn’t hereditary you could have shared the same trigger. My Mom had GBS 5 years ago and has completely recovered. I was diagnosed in October 2006. [more..]
