To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Guillain-Barre Syndrome I am a 52 year old woman who was diagnosed with GBS in February this year. Prior to the symptoms of GBS appearing I had a sore throat and cough which the doctors think may have triggered the attack. My symptoms appeared firstly as severe lower back pain followed by tingling in my fingers and toes. I was hospitalised and over the next 2/3 days developed total paralysis in my arms and legs. I was given painkillers for the incredible pain in my back caused by the strain of not being able to move my limbs and sleeping tablets. I was treated with immunoglobulin for 5 days and then gradually started to get the use of my limbs back. Following physiotherapy I was allowed home after 5 weeks. Mobility is still a problem even after nearly 3 months. I am still walking with 2 sticks, still feel very tired and have some weakness in my left arm and hand. Comments
