DESPARATE HUSBAND

by: philip on Fri, Apr 11 2008

My wife has epilepsy and just gave birth to a baby girl. She’s has been living with her mother over the last 8 months. Ever since she was found to be pregnant her behavior had changed dramatically. Now I’ve already heard from other women and doctors that it is her hormones. Well I know this, but is normal for my wife to become violent. I believe its not.

I’ve looked for information on epileptics with mood disorders from the Epilepsy Foundation and received literature on the subject. I’ve read that epileptics can be prone to mood disorders ranging from mild to severe. In addition, based on some of her medications, these drugs can sometimes cover the symtoms of a mood disorder or increase the risks. Finally and most worrisome is that doctors frequently misdiagnose or miss completely mood disorders.

i’ve tried talking to my wife about her concerns but she says she’s fine. Even worse when I talked to her mother about my concerns she seems to believe that there is nothing wrong. So I guess having my wife chasing me with a knife is normal in my wife’s family?? I believe my wife needs an evaluation and treatment for not only her health, but for the safety of our baby daughter. I could really use some advice or some suggestions. I really love my wife and child. Is there any help out there?
