To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Hypophosphatemia (Low Phosphate) and Seizures Two days after Christmas 2006, my husband suddenly went into a seizure while napping on the couch at 11:30 a.m. He had never had seizures before. After 3 days in ICU at the hospital, we had every test ran, EEG, EKG CT scan, MRI nothing, everything was normal. The only abnormal thing was his phosphate levels were critically low. Anyway they released him. He ended up having multiple seizures at home one morning (5 at home, one in the car on the way to the hospital and one in the E.R.), we didn’t bring him back to the same hospital this time. He was borderline comatose when we got him to the E.R. and again, his phosphate levels were critically low. This hospital ran all the same tests the other hospital ran (only faster within 24 hours) and we had a diagnosis. HYPOPHOSPHATEMIA. Read up on this disease if this sounds familiar to you. Comments
