To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download kyra’s story…. It all started within 3 days of moving into our new house, my 2 1/2 yr old became terribly ill. We took her to the emergency room because her symptoms were not that of a normal child. They sent her home 4 times, before finally realizing there was something very wrong with my little girl. Finally when they admitted her, she was blind, deaf, couldnt walk, talk, eat, keep food down etc. She slipped into a coma withen 6 days of the first time she was ill. A few weeks later after mri’s,lumbar punctures,ct scans,x rays, brain wave activities, they found her brain was starting to swell and press against her skull. Then they confirmed she had very serious signs of encephlitus [encephalitis]. They tried everything they could to take her pain away by keeping her on morphine, codine, adivan, anything it took to keep her as comfortable as possible so shes at peace. A few weeks later they told me to bring in the immediate family, they werent sure if she would ever come back to us again, or wake up. She was hospitalized sept 16 2007, and she awoke nov 2nd 2007, after i refused to let her go that way. My life has changed dramatically, she is now in rehab, she is starting to talk again, shes almost walking, she can now eat on her own, shes now safe at home, even though, it was the scariest months of my life, I am so glad i have my little angel back, i was given a second chance to do things over with her, and i will make that time she lost, up to her for the rest of her life!! If anyone else can help deal with this, that would be nice!!I have been on anti depressents since her illness, she went from normal to a little girl who sometimes it feels like im getting to know again!!But she is and will always be my little angel!!
