encephalitis

by: Cheryl on Tue, Aug 07 2007

my 12 year old daughter is currently in hospital recovering from operation to relieve cerebellum swelling from encephalitis. She had severe headaches/vomiting/slurred speech. Still cannot move arms and breathe on her own at night. After 2 weeks of test after test, neurologists/infectious disease experts still don’t know what kind of virus she contracted.

I belive it is mosquito-related having seen mosquito bites on stomach, however, west nile ruled out as well as herpes and some animal viruses. There must be someone out there with an answer. She can’t be the only one like this without a logical explanation. Help!!!!!

After having Herpes Simplex Encephalitis in 2000…I began to have momentary incidents of a very strange feeling - Right out of a horror novel,,,the feeling of “the hair standing up on the back of my neck” While unpleasant, they occurred while driving/laying down to sleep/walking to a store/even while rockclimbing!
