I have been experiencing several symptoms been to neurologist think may be dystonia.

It all started April 2007 I had attack of severe pulling on left side of face slurred speech numbness to touch was told bell’s palsy. The symptoms continued mild to moderate was referred to neurologist. Symptoms progressed to when reading out loud face muscles pull and neck muscles spasm.the more read the more words not formed slurred.

Since june 2008 legs get very heavy when walking the further the distance the heavier they get to the point it is like walking in cement when get to destination very exhausted. I was referred to another neurologist who was so busy he wrote notes barely made eye contact and spent no more than 5 minutes with me, had me walk short distance small distance of exam room. My legs did show some weakness bend at knee but he was quick to say have you ever had a childhood trauma? He said this could be either caused by childhood trauma or dystonia. All the test performed EMG normal, had Cat scan and MRI when had bell’s palsy symptoms no new MRI since walking difficulty. They have referred me to a movement disorder clinic. He suspects they will find this isn’t dystonia.

I am very insulted I realize there very well may be people that may have this disorder caused by child hood trauma but it is usual suggested once evaluated thoroughly by a psychiatrist I am healthy other than these symptoms I am not on any medication I take Tylenol when needed. I am a professional who deserves some respect. I am Canadian I am very grateful for our health care system however I am willing to pay to have a thorough exam by someone who has time and patience.
